San Diego Grand Tradition Estate Wedding
Being a wedding photographer, I secretly take pride for “stealing” my clients’ precious moments with my photographs. But since the San Diego Grand Tradition Estate Wedding, I am not so sure if it was the other way around…
Meet Kim and Darain
After a brief introduction online, with the help from an old friend, Kim wrote a lengthy email that left me stunned. She wasn’t just looking for a typical Los Angeles wedding photographer. She understood that a photographer needed to get to know her clients on a personal level, in order to capture the most breathtaking and pure moments, thus she sent the couple’s love story in an email. I dropped everything that morning, got myself a cup of tea, and dived into the couple’s beautiful story.
From then on, our e-mails went back and forth, until Kim and I met for the first time at her wedding venue, the San Diego Grand Tradition Estate. We instantly clicked – we laughed and shared stories of our friends and family. Those six hours on the day we met, which was spent discussing her vision for the wedding and forming a bond, flew by.
The Big Day
Kim and Darain’s wedding day can be best described as sunny and bright, as if the San Diego sky was about to burst with happiness. Kim was calm and gracious as usual, and Darain was a total goof ball – personalities that shined through from their love story e-mail.
The day could have not been more perfect, even with a slight hiccup. As an LA based wedding photographer, I am prepared to take on any challenge that comes my way, especially on the big day.
There is a common belief that venue assigned coordinators and professional wedding coordinators carry the same responsibilities. The problem is, they don’t – a venue assigned coordinator is only responsible for coordinating vendors on the wedding day. Unfortunately, the couple only had a venue coordinator, which left Kim and her mother distressed, as there was no one responsible for taking care of the guests. Guests were often wandering into our First Look session, where my goal as a wedding photographer is to capture the private and intimate moments between the bride and the groom.
Luckily, I had a second photographer by my side, who graciously filled in as a temporary wedding coordinator. With her help, we were able to coordinate the First Look session to ensure privacy between the couple. However, as my second photographer was fulfilling other responsibilities, we unfortunately couldn’t capture the couple’s expressions simultaneously.
Aside from this slight glitch, the couple, surrounded by love and blessings, had a wonderful special day at the San Diego Grand Tradition Estate. One of my favorite moments was during the reception, when Kim’s father gave a very touching speech about his little girl growing up and Darain’s father invited guests to stand up in honor of their new family. It was an incredibly touching and beautiful moment, tears were brought to my eyes.
Thank you Kim and Darain for letting me be a part of your perfect San Diego wedding!
