If wedding photography is important to you, hire a planner. 🙂 Here are the two reasons from my perspective as a photographer:
• Without a healthy timeline, our creative process suffers. It’s common to see brides run out of time due to false expectations on how much time things take. In those cases, shooting time may get cut short or a certain photo wish list could get eliminated altogether.
• If you are constantly worried that your family/friends are not being taken care of, you will look distracted and even annoyed. I’ve seen brides who wished that someone could just take care of things but no one was able and they bursted into tears during a photo session…

Tip: A professional planner is not the same as venue’s day of coordinators
It depends on what you need and how you envision your wedding day. No weddings are the same in terms of style and budget. I don’t believe in forcing my client into buying a fixed package that includes things they don’t need, so all of my packages are custom tailored. But to give you an idea, it can typically range from $2,900 to $6,200. I am based in West Los Angeles and will travel anywhere within a 250 mile radius, including Santa Barbara, San Diego, Temecula, or Palm Springs. For full day coverage, there is no additional traveling fee, for partial day overages, traveling fees may vary.
For a full wedding day coverage, it averages between 1,500- 3,000 photos. For a two to four hours engagement session, it ranges between 100-200 images. For a three-hour event it ranges between 200-400 photos and for a two-hour portrait session it ranges between 100-200.
These days, because of popular consumer targeted products/apps, people are often confused by terms such as original vs. high resolution vs. RAW. To understand what they mean, so you can request for the appropriate files, please read this article on Editing vs Retouching and Different Photo Formats.
Now that you understand what they mean, most of my packages include high-resolution edited images. However, I do not typically provide RAW files as I consider them to be unfinished images. I shoot all of my photos with post-processing in mind for how the photo should look as a finished product.
That said, there are occasions where I may release RAW images on top of your finished photos for an additional fee and restrictions.
First, please fill out the booking page or email me at email@example.com with your date, location as well as any other information you have so far, so I can check to see if I am available. Then we’ll set up a call to chat about various needs on coverage/prints as well as your overall vision for your wedding day. It normally takes forty minutes to one hour. After the call I’ll put together one to three packages based on your answers and you can decide then whether you’d like to hire me or to revise one of the packages to better fit your needs. For the last step, I’ll send you a Photography Agreement with the package you’ve selected. Once you sign and submit a 50% deposit your date is officially locked in!
Yes! It doesn’t matter where you are as long as your wedding is within a 250 miles radius of me. I’ve worked with many couples who aren’t local in Southern California and the wedding turned out beautifully. What we will be doing differently is to have at least one Skype chat and frequent email/chat communications; so that I can make sure that I understand all of your needs and wants.
Yes, I work with a team of photographers who are also experienced and established first shooters. You can have as many or as few photographers as you need for your special day with the comfort of knowing that you’re working with top-notch talent and not junior photographers.
Things change last minute at weddings all the time, which is why we offer add-ons. You are always welcome to add hours onto your package at any point. If you are really worried (and we don’t like to be the party pooper either), we also provide a “comprehensive” package which means we’ll be there from start to end with you. The only request we have is to be considerate of our feet and to not keep us there for more than 12 hours.
Absolutely! Part of the job of being a photographer is to deal with all sorts of lighting situations. We have lights to light up your location so it’s not a problem.
I’ll always try to fulfill your dream as closely to the way you envisioned as possible. However, weddings days are very dynamic because of last minute change of plans, seasons, weather and surprise human elements that photographers can’t control. The main difference between event photographers vs. studio photographers is that a studio photo shoot is much more planned and controlled. For events, we need to think fast, always try to make the best of any situation and create art at the same time.
The short answer is yes. However, there is a huge difference between editing and retouching. Please refer to the last part of this article on Editing Vs. Retouching.
Albums/Guest Books include images that are edited and retouched from your Wedding Day or Engagement Session. Then based on your personality/story I’ll custom design a layout that reflects you and your story the best. You may see real wedding albums HERE. Variations in size, cover and colors are available.
For a full day wedding coverage typically I will provide a sneak peek 7-14 days after the wedding date. Depending on whether or not you also have an album in your package, it can take up to two to three months after your wedding day to receive a full wedding gallery as well as your album design preview. Once you’ve confirmed the album design, it’ll take another one to two months to retouch all of the photos that go into the album, and finally print. For short sessions, the time may vary depending on what time of the year it is, and if you need album/prints. Typically, it takes between three to six weeks.
